WELCOME TO THE MUNICIPALITY OF BAYHAM – where opportunity is yours!
Discover Bayham - Gateway to Erie's Shore nestled on the sandy northern shores of Lake Erie and extending up into the heartland of farm country.
For history buffs, Bayham boasts a restored 1840 wooden lighthouse overlooking the sandy beach shores of Lake Erie, travel and provincial parks and two significant heritage museum sites. The Port Burwell Lighthouse (17 Robinson St.) is one of Canada's oldest wooden lighthouses. You can climb to the top for a stunning panoramic view of the lake and harbour. The Port Burwell Marine Museum (20 Pitt St.) has one of the finest collections of lighthouse lenses on the Great Lakes. The Edison Museum of Vienna (14 Snow St.) is the only known Edison museum in Canada, which houses a compelling collection of Edison artifacts, commemorating the great inventor's Canadian connection.
Visitors seeking sandy beaches, camping sites, cottages, bed-and-breakfast facilities, birdwatching, fishing and boating can find it in Bayham.
Bayham is one of three host municipalities to the Erie Shores Wind Farm spread along the entire lakefront. Because of consistent exposure to wind on the Lake Erie shoreline, the Erie Shores Wind Farm has sufficient force to power large commercial wind turbines feeding electrical power into the public grid.
A tour through Bayham in the fall with its nature trails, valley and ravine terrains and lake scenery, rivals anthing Northern Ontario has to offer. Bayham offers a little something for everyone!
