Viewing Events
Events shown are based on municipal area. To see all events in Elgin please go to the
homepage calendar where they are all combined.
Events may be viewed by day or month. To view a full month's worth of events just click the
month name. To view the events for a specific date just click that day of the month (only
days in bold and underlined have events associated with them). To switch the month viewed
just click the arrows to the right or left of the month name.
From the list of events you see when selecting the month or a day within; just click on the
event and a detailed description will appear.
You can also search events by changing the category and hitting Refresh, typing in a
keyword and hitting Refresh or a combination of both to search within a
category.
Adding an Event
Events can be added by any registered user! (anyone may become a registered user of the
portal, just follow the Registration link found on the far top right of all pages)
Once an event is added it must be approved by an administrator.
There are two types of events that may be created; events requiring registration and events
without any registration. For registration events, the creator may set if there is a cost
and the method of payment for that cost.
Recurring Events are also permitted; the creator may make the event fall on a certain date
each month and automatically pre-populate the calendar many months in advance.
Registering for an Event/Program
Users who have registered on the portal (anyone may become a registered user of the portal,
just follow the Registration link found on the far top right of all pages) may
register for events with registration. Users may easily create additional family members
under the same login using the PIN# system and register on their behalf.
Where an event is full, anyone attempting to register will be notified and added to a
waitlist. The creator of the event may add people from the waitlist on a first come, first
served basis and the registree will be notified that they have been moved from the waitlist
to the enrolled list for that event.
If there is a cost associated with the event and the creator has allowed online payment, the
option to pay immediately using your credit card is available. For security purposes no
credit card informaiton is stored locally by the portal; all transactions are done via
secure and reputable online transaction services.
