Directory Listings Service

The ElginConnects Directory Listings provide you with access to the only complete listing of businesses and social services in Elgin County. It can be found on the right-hand side of many pages throughout the site, sometimes defaulted to municipality or categories pertaining to the page.


Using the Directory Listings

Searching can be done a few ways and all results are displayed in the main window.. further details on each business can be found by clicking on their name.

1     search by municipality - select from drop-down list then click on 'listings'

2     search by category... and some, like the Retail and Services category, are broken down further into categories. - select from drop down list then click on  'listings'

3     Or type in a business name or service under the 'Search' Function.

To search by business/service name:

  1. Type all or part of the organization's name into the text box above 'Search',
  2. Click the 'Search' link/button (or hit 'Enter'),
  3. The results of your search will be displayed in the main window. Click the business/service name for detailed information.
To display all the businesses/services in a category:
  1. Select the desired 'Category' from the drop-down menu (note: some categories may contain sub-categories),
  2. If you would like to select a sub-category, click the 'Expand Category' link and select a sub-category,
  3. If you would like to limit your results to a specific municipality, select that municipality from the drop-down menu. You may also expand your listings to include all of Elgin County by selecting the 'Full Community' entry,
  4. Click the 'Listings' link,
  5. The results of your search will be displayed in the main window. Click the business/service name for detailed information.


Submitting a New Directory Listing

You must be a registered user of the portal in order to automatically enter a new organization. If you are not a registered user (have a username/password for the ElginConnects portal), you must register to create a username and password and then return to this page. Alternatively, you may be able to suggest an organization to be entered without registering - check here for details.

  1. If you are a registered user and have logged in to the portal, you should see an 'Add Listings' link. Click it to proceed,
  2. Enter in as many details about the business/service as you can - fields marked by a red asterisk (*) must be completed,
  3. When completed, click the 'Add' button at the bottom of the page. The business will be added in pending mode and should be approved or denied within 5 business days,
  4. If you do not see your submission in the listings after 5 business days, you may send a message to [email protected] to enquire about it.


Submitting a Correction to a Directory Listing

If you notice an organization listing that requires a change to its details, you can submit your recommended changes:

  1. NOTE: You must be a registered user of the portal in order to use the built-in change request feature. If you are not a registered user (have a username/password for the ElginConnects portal), you must register to create a username and password and then return to this page. Alternatively, you may be able to suggest a change without registering - check here for details.
  2. If you are a registered user and have logged in to the portal, locate the listing you would like to recommend a change for (see here for details on locating listings),
  3. At the bottom of the listing, you should see an area titled 'Updates'. Enter in the details of the recommended changes in the 'Suggested Correction' text box and click the 'Send Correction' button (note: be sure to include as much information as possible to ensure the listing is modified correctly),
  4. Your recommendations will be submitted as pending and should be approved or denied within 5 business days,
  5. If you do not see your changes to the listing after 5 business days, you may send a message to [email protected] to enquire about it.


Submitting Requests Without Registering

For new organizations to be added to the system, be sure to include the following in your message as the minimum:

  • organization's name
  • description of the organization
  • full mailing & physical address of the organization
  • contact name and phone number of the organization
