Pet Licenses

Residents with portal PINs will be allowed to purchase licenses for cats and dogs online. It is up to the resident to ensure that the municipality has the proper paperwork to support the costs charged (ie. Spayed/neutered papers or microchip document).

Purchase a pet license

Users can select the Purchase new pet license link on the main view. This will direct the user to identifying themselves using their PIN. If you don’t already have a PIN, the system will create one for you. You only need to create a PIN once, then the system remembers your PIN for all portal applications. Once identified, you will need to enter some information about your pet and then you will be able to pay for the license by credit card.

Search for your pet license

Once you have a pet license, if you ever need to see the details that were entered in the future, just enter your pet’s Tag ID, and you will be presented with the license details.

Pet License Admin Access

Users that have logged on to the portal and have been granted admin privileges by the site administrator.

Approve a license request

Once a resident purchases a license, the administrator still needs to make sure that they have the proper paper work to support the cost charged to the resident. For instance, if the resident says that their pet is spayed, it is up to the resident to provide proof of this for the administrator. Once the required paper work has been received, then the administrator will approve the license request and hand the information off to someone else so a tag can be created and mailed to the resident.

Search all licenses

Administrators can search for all licenses in all statuses for the current and previous year. To perform this, the admin must enter a street name and a wildcard search will be performed in that municipality for all licenses for the desired year. The street name is required due to the number of licenses that could potentially be retrieved.

Some municipalities still use canvassers to go door to door and collect funds for licenses. The current and previous year search screen is useful for canvassers to know who paid last year but is delinquent this year, or what homes they can skip knowing that the licenses were already purchased. These results may save canvassers time on their door to door march.

Assigning license costs

An administrator will need access to the Transaction Costs application where they can set the costs for pet licenses. As soon as a cost is updated, it is effective. This application allows separate costs for unsprayed, spayed/neutered, and pets with microchips. If a municipality charges the same rate for all, then enter the same cost for each variant. Additionally, supplemental charges are allowed for additional cats or dogs. Three or more pets of the same type are charged the same supplemental fee. All updates to any transaction costs are tracked in an audit log.
